Parks & Recreation

Olney Town Council ground staff work on a continuous programme throughout the year to maintain the open spaces in Olney.

They work especially hard to keep our sports pitches up to a high standard for all the teams.

The recreation areas maintained by the Council include:

  • The main Recreation fields
  • Johnsons Field
  • The Pyghtle
  • The Barnfield
  • Olney Meadows (The Goosey )

The Recreation Ground in East Street is a popular place for leisure time.

The 'Rec' as it is commonly known has a children's play area and access to the river.

The historic swimming steps are located here on the banks of the River Great Ouse. It is also the main centre for outdoor sports, including tennis, bowls, cricket, rugby and football.

With the help of local sponsorship Olney Town Council is able to continue to keep the town’s roundabouts, flowerbeds and turrets at the entrances to the town in full colour throughout the year, especially in the summer when the hanging baskets are in full bloom.
